Whether you’re a business owner or not, you are taking control of your life, and you need a clear mission! Your missions is why you, and your business, exist.

Now most of us pretend that only businesses need missions, but I'm here to tell you today, even if you're just directing your own life, you need to know what your purpose is for being on this planet or you will drift through life and wake up at 40 or 50 or 60 or 70 and wonder what happened.

Now back to the main point!

I tell everyone that the economy is great about rooting out businesses that it doesn’t need. If you don’t serve a need, the economy is great about weeding you out of business.

Sometimes, we forget to focus appropriately, so this is to help your re-focus on what you were placed on this earth to do. The great thing about knowing your mission is that when you know what you were placed here to do, you are inspired. You wake up in the mornings excited to work. You work the longer hours, excited about what you’re doing.

So how do you find your mission? Well, it’s not easy. Take time to break this down with me, and plan to take a few hours to find your mission. It’s worth it!

First, get a piece of paper and pen and ask yourself this question: What is it you want to see changed in the world around you?

When you find the answer, ask yourself “Why does that matter?” and when you find the answer to that question, ask yourself why THAT answer matters, and continue asking yourself that question until you find the answer that appeals to you emotionally.
